Welcoming Students to SWAG on 9/28/2021

Students With A Goal (SWAG) is beginning our 2021-2022 program year on September 28th . The staff worked hard last year to adapt to the demands of Covid-19 with low student-leader ratios, mask requirements, sanitation and limited group activities, yet kept things creative for the students. Our SWAG summer program provided an extraordinarily welcome opportunity for our students to engage with each other and SWAG in both fun and education. Most of those students, in addition to 6th -12th graders we are recruiting, are registered to return for SWAG’s regular program year.

SWAG will be conducting its program Tuesdays through Thursdays, 3:30 – 7:00 P.M., beginning with recreation / social time and a snack, 1 to 1-1/2 hours of academic support, leadership / life lessons opportunities and dinner. With the continued Covid risks, we will still maintain many of our precautions this year but can modify some of the restrictions, such as a return to providing transportation for the students from school to SWAG and then home.

It has been a year of ever-changing transitions and throughout this year, SWAG has welcomed three new members to the Board of Directors, Shaleeta Smith with Summit County Public Health, Karen Mitchell with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and LaKesha Brock with Towpath Trail. Additionally, SWAG is searching for the next Director to lead the organization into the next chapter of mentoring and relationship-building, career development efforts, and academic support of the SWAG students.

Thank you for your support of SWAG!
